Thea Marx, ND, is a licensed practicing naturopathic physician, clinician researcher, lecturer, and Founder and CEO of TM Nutrition LLC in the United States. Her work focuses on perioperative nutrition, metabolic readiness for surgery, and practical approaches to improving the overall surgical patient experience.
Dr. Marx developed VIS Pre Surgery™, a clinician developed preoperative multi nutrient nutrition intervention designed to support metabolic readiness, glucose stability, hydration, and recovery around surgery. VIS has been used in nearly 1,000 surgical cases and is currently used daily in an academic clinical setting in the United States.
Her research examines preoperative nutrition support and postoperative glycemia, including the pilot feasibility study being presented at ESPEN 2026 in Berlin. She also lectures on metabolic readiness, perioperative nutrition, glucose management, hydration, and evolving approaches to preparing patients for the physiologic stress of surgery.
Dr. Marx was the Health Track Winner at the 2024 Yale Innovation Summit and has presented and lectured to clinical and perioperative audiences across the United States. Her broader work is focused on translating perioperative nutrition science into practical interventions that can be integrated into real world surgical care.
