Description

CNPq Research Productivity Fellow, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Epidemiology at the School of Public Health, University of São Paulo (USP). She holds a degree in Nutrition from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), a Master’s in Public Health (PPGSC-UFES), and a PhD in Physiological Sciences (PPGCF-UFES). Currently, she is an Associate Professor IV at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. She is responsible for the course Pathology of Nutrition and Diet Therapy II in the Nutrition program and is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Programs in Public Health (PPGSC) and in Nutrition and Health (PPGNS). She coordinated the PPGNS between 2019–2021 and again in 2025–2027, and also served as deputy coordinator from 2023–2025. She is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project PROVEN-DIA – Effectiveness of the Diabetes Prevention Program on the Incidence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among Brazilian Individuals, a randomized clinical trial assessing the effectiveness of a structured lifestyle modification program in preventing type 2 diabetes in individuals with prediabetes. The study aims to expand scientific knowledge on prevention strategies and provide evidence to guide public policies for tackling noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in Brazil. Since 2010, she has led the Research Group on Epidemiology, Health, and Nutrition (GEMNUT/UFES), certified by CNPq, developing studies on NCDs with emphasis on the epidemiology of conditions relevant to public health, workers’ health, multimorbidity, and dietary patterns in populations. Her research focuses on descriptive studies, intervention trials, and investigations of risk and prognostic factors in health, with emphasis on Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Oncology. She is a senior collaborator of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, linked to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington (USA), and a member of the Brazilian Multimorbidity Research Group (GBEM), based at the Federal University of Pelotas. She also serves as an evaluator for the National Higher Education Evaluation System (SINAES), integrating the Evaluation Committee (BASis/INEP/MEC).
