Description
Claudia D'Alessandro was born in Camaiore (Lucca, Italy) on November 19th , 1968.
She is married and has two sons.
She graduated with honors in Biological Sciences in February 1994 and began working in the Department of Neuroscience, University of Pisa, studying muscle metabolism and mechanisms of muscle damage in patients with neuromuscular diseases. Her interest in nutrition began while studying muscular disorders. She graduated with honors in Dietetics in April 2003. She got a I level Postgraduate degree in Management for Health Professions in July 2005, a I level Postgraduate degree in Clinical and Applied Nutrition in June 2008, a first level Postgraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in Nephrology in November 2011, a Master degree in Technical Health Professions in December 2011, a II level postgraduate degree in Sustainable Development and Climate Change in 2024
In 2001 she received the appointment of Expert in Clinical Nutrition.
From 2002 to 2005 she was a research fellow at the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Pisa.
Since 1997 she has worked at the Department of Internal Medicine, now Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Pisa, with clinical, research and teaching tasks.
Scientific research is mainly carried out in the field of clinical nutrition applied in particular in nephrology, neurology (patients with spinal cord injuries, neuromuscular disorders and Parkinson’s disease) and sports (rhythmic gymnastics, marathon, swimming, tennis, triathlon). She participated in the writing of 99 full-length publications, 25 in Italian and 74 in English. He also participated in the production of books, brochures and information material to spread the principles of healthy nutrition in the general population and in subjects suffering from specific diseases, in particular chronic kidney disease.
From 2000-2001 she has held seminars in various University courses and assisted students in the preparation of thesis in Medicine and Surgery, Dietetics, Nursing, Obstetrics and Sport Science.
He currently teaches Applied Dietary Techniques in the Master in Nutrition and Dietetics in Nephrology, in the Nephrology Specialization school and in the Degree in Dietetics at the University of Pisa.
Since 1998 she is dedicated to the promotion of healthy behavior among young people, participating in seminars and organizing educational interventions in primary and secondary schools, in Sport Teams and Sports Federations and in the general population.
