Description

Dr. Joel Beltré is an obstetrician-gynecologist trained at the Hospital de la Mujer Dominicana and a clinical nutritionist with a solid academic background and extensive professional experience in public health, nutrition, and gynecology. A graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Dr. Beltré has complemented his training with a specialty and master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), a master’s degree in Hospital Management from the Escuela de Organización Industrial of Madrid, and a specialization in Management Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University in the United States. Dr. Beltré is also a food technologist and has participated in various national and international courses and workshops, including advanced training in hysteroscopy, prenatal care and obstetric emergencies, fetal growth restriction, nutritional therapy in critically ill neonates, and exercise prescription, among others. In terms of professional experience, he has worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Hospital Materno Dr. Reynaldo Almánzar and as a program coordinator for the PEPFAR/CDC/COIN project. In addition, he has led private projects in nutrition and public health and serves as Vice President of the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UASD. As a professor, Dr. Beltré teaches at various universities, including INTEC, UASD, Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, and the Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago. He has been an outstanding speaker at national and international forums, addressing topics such as the social determinants of obesity, nutrition during pregnancy, immunonutrition, gut microbiota, and the impact of technology on clinical laboratory services. An active member of several specialized medical societies, such as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), the Dominican Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SODONUCLIM), and the Mexican College for Research and Cancer (CMIC), Dr. Beltré is also a researcher affiliated with the National Researcher Career Program of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT).
