HAN UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

Senior Researcher

Description

I am a Senior Researcher at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and HAN University of Applied Sciences, within the Research Group Nutrition, Dietetics and Lifestyle. I have more than 20 years of experience as a dietitian, researcher, and lecturer in the fields of nutrition, dietetics, and lifestyle medicine. My expertise focuses on the preservation of muscle mass in individuals with chronic diseases and during ageing, as well as on malnutrition, obesity, and the further professionalization of the dietetics profession. I bridge scientific research, education, and clinical practice and have established a strong international network. I have supervised more than 70 bachelor's and master's students, authored approximately 50 peer-reviewed publications, and currently supervise two PhD candidates. I am currently serving as Project Lead for Community Health Promotion at the HAN Centre of Expertise 'Sustainable Healthcare', where I collaborate with regional partners to translate practical challenges into education, research, and professional practice. In addition, I coordinate projects on malnutrition in people living with overweight and obesity, aiming to improve its recognition and treatment within healthcare. Since April 2026, I have served as a board member of the Dutch Association of Dietitians (NVD), where I am committed to advancing high-quality, accessible dietetic care and strengthening the profession in the Netherlands.
