Description
I am a Senior Researcher at IMDEA Nutrition Institute and Head of the Nutritional Control of the Epigenome Group, where I lead research on nutrigenomics, precision nutrition, and the epigenetic mechanisms linking diet to cardiometabolic health and healthy aging. I obtained her PhD in Cell Biology and Genetics from the Autonomous University of Madrid and have developed an internationally career focused on DNA methylation, microRNAs, and personalized nutrition.
Over the course of my career, I have authored more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including papers in leading journals such as JAMA, Diabetes Care, and The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, accumulating more than 3,000 citations and an h-index above 30. I have served as Principal Investigator of numerous national and international research projects, including PREDIMED-Plus and ENSATI, and have established collaborations with institutions such as Yale University, Tufts University, King's College London, and several European research networks. I am Vice-president of the Public Engament and Communication Working Group of EIT-Food Healthy Aging Think & Do Tank and participate in several COST Actions.
In addition to my academic achievements, I am committed to innovation and knowledge transfer. I am the founder of Food-i Sense , a precision nutrition startup that integrates artificial intelligence and continuous glucose monitoring data to support personalized dietary interventions. I am also an Associate Professor at CEU San Pablo University, where I teaches nutrigenomics and pharmacogenomics and mentors the next generation of researchers.
