Rationale: Rationale: Recently, prognostic factors for patients with cancer cachexia have been reported. We hypothesized that phase angle (PhA), which is measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), might be a promising marker for assessing the nutritional status and prognosis of patients with cancer. The present study aimed to evaluate the predictive utility of PhA, for the prognosis of patients with cancer operative patients.
Methods: Methods: 100 patients underwent distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer were recruited between July 2018 and December 2021 in Otokoyama private Hospital. Their mean age was 75.8 years (standard deviation, 6.5), 65 were men. We have measured PhA by BIA twice before and after operation, distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer patients. After that, we have checked BI, MoCA, and HADs by interviews at 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year later from discharge of hospital.
Results: Results: BI-PA change; (p-value, odds ratio), 3month(0.569, 0.802) 6month(0.0405, 0.623), 1year(0.00911,0.391), MoCA-PA change; (p-value, odds ratio), 3month(0.453, 0.702) 6month(0.0400, 0.514), 1year(0.00618,0.291), HADs-PA change; (p-value, odds ratio), 3month(0.453, 0.810) 6month(0.0315, 0.632), 1year(0.00719,0.394)
Conclusion: mage:
Conclusion: At 3 month, we have had no relationship between BI, MoCA, HADs and change of PhA, however, after that, p-value and odds ratio have gotten smaller. The case which PhA after operation got down than before should be followed up carefully at 1 year later even if BI, MoCA, and HADs were good at 3 month later from discharge. On the next stage, we hope to step into PICS investigation.
