Rationale: Our hospital uses collagen peptide-added oral nutritional supplement (V-CRES CP-10) to improve hypoproteinemia and promote healing of bedsores, and we investigated its effectiveness.

Methods: The subjects were 24 patients who were administered oral nutritional supplement containing 10g of collagen peptide and multivitamins during hospitalization from January 2023 to May 2025.

Results: The average age was 76.3 years (49-91), and the male-female ratio was 16:8. The average BMI was 21.1 (12.0-29.7). The average administered energy at the start was 1261 kcal (240-2200), and all patients were able to take it orally, with the average energy intake being 1024 kcal (50-1700). Ten patients were receiving parenteral nutrition. The average duration of use was 23.3 days (range 4-95). Test data at the start and end of administration showed that Alb increased from 2.51 to 2.69, but this was not significant. BUN also increased from 14.9 before administration to 18.0 after administration, but this difference was not significant. The outcomes were discharged in 10 patients, transferred to another hospital in 11 patients, and death in 3 patients.

Conclusion: In this study, intake of the collagen peptide-added oral nutritional supplement was good, and almost all patients continued to take the supplement until discharge or transfer to another hospital, except for those who were discontinued due to fasting. In patients who were administered the supplement for less than two weeks, Alb values only increased from 2.56 to 2.64, but in patients who were administered the supplement for 15 days or more, Alb values increased significantly from 2.47 to 2.74. From this, we believe that continued administration can contribute to the improvement of hypoproteinemia.
