Rationale: Menopause is characterized by significant physical, hormonal, and psychological changes that may influence nutritional behaviors. Such changes can affect the intake of energy and nutrients, potentially leading to alterations in body weight and composition. This study aims to assess the relationship between eating behaviors and anthropometric measurements among premenopausal and postmenopausal women.

Methods: A total of 1205 women (605 premenopausal, 600 postmenopausal) participated in this study. Menopausal status was determined through a face-to-face structured questionnaire conducted by the researcher. Eating behavior was assessed using the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ), which includes subscales for cognitive restraint, emotional eating, and uncontrolled eating. Anthropometric measurements were obtained by the researcher.

Results: The mean age of the participants was 45.37 ± 12.82 years. The mean body mass index (BMI) was 26.73±4.96 kg/m2 in premenopausal women and 30.01±4.63 26.73±4.96 kg/m2 in postmenopausal women (p>0.05). Comparison of TFEQ subscale scores between the two groups revealed that cognitive restraint scores were significantly higher in premenopausal women than in postmenopausal women (p=0.02). A positive correlation was found between all TFEQ subscales and body weight, BMI, and waist circumference. All associations were statistically significant (p<0.05), except for the relationship between cognitive restraint and waist circumference.

Conclusion: In conclusion, this study identified a positive correlation between participants' eating behavior scores and their anthropometric parameters.
