Rationale: This study aims to investigate the association between vitamin D status and LDH in women with early-stage breast cancer (BC) before initiating clinical treatment.

Methods: This cross-sectional study prospectively analyzed 53 BC women prior to clinical treatment. Participants were categorized in: sufficiency and insufficiency vitamin D status. Spearman´s correlation coefficient assessed the relationship between vitamin D levels and LDH.

Results: The majority of participants (54.7%) had vitamin D insufficiency. No significant differences were observed between vitamin D status groups in relation to factors that could influence vitamin D levels. A significant negative correlation was found between vitamin D status groups and LDH (r=-0.34, p=0.02).

Conclusion: Vitamin D levels were negatively associated with LDH, a recognized prognostic marker in BC. This finding underscores the need for further research to determine whether correcting vitamin D insufficiency before treatment onset could positively influence patient prognosis.
