Rationale: This study evaluated the effectiveness of specialized nutritional interventions on clinical outcomes in patients with advanced heart failure
Methods: A prospective cohort study of 180 patients with NYHA class III-IV heart failure was conducted over 9 months. Participants received tailored nutritional support focusing on sodium restriction, protein optimization, and micronutrient supplementation. Clinical assessments, nutritional status evaluations, and quality of life measurements were performed quarterly.
Results: Patients receiving nutritional intervention showed a 40% reduction in hospital readmissions, improved 6-minute walk test performance (increased by 68 meters), and significant improvements in nutritional markers. Serum albumin levels increased from 3.2 to 3.7 g/dL, and lean body mass preservation was observed in 75% of participants. Quality of life scores improved by 45% on the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire.
Conclusion: Comprehensive nutritional support can significantly improve clinical outcomes and quality of life in patients with advanced heart failure.
