Rationale: The aim of our study is to identify animal studies published in journals indexed in Web of Science™(WOS)worldwide in the field of "Nutrition&Dietetics"and to evaluate their citation rates. 

Methods: Our study was designed as a cross-sectional observational study. Articles published in journals indexed in the “Thomson Reuters Web of Science”(WOS) database were identified and analyzed on 12/04/2026 using the appropriate search key(https://www.webofscience.com/wos/woscc/summary/5e1af2ae-f019-4fe5-ab48-e82f1001f34a-01ac429de6/times-cited-descending/1).Our study did not use humans or animals, it was conducted using open data, and ethical committee approval is not required.

Results: There are a total of 101,113 publications indexed in the WOS database as animal studies in the field of "Nutrition&Dietetics". The most cited publication was by Reeves,PGet al.,published in the Journal of Nutrition in 1993,and received 7215 citations.The highest number of publications was in 2022 with 4647(4.596%). 81.79% of the publications were Articles,8.83% were Reviews,6.92%were Proceeding Papers.93.42% of the publications were indexed in SCI-E,7.89% in CPCI-S,2.62%in ESCI.2.62% of the publications originated from INRAE,2.23%from the University of California System,2.09% from the United States Department of Agriculture.26.22% of the publications originated from the USA,12.66% from China,8.85% from Japan. According to Citation Topics Meso, the distribution was 13.70%Lipids,7.45%Phytochemicals,5.84%Inflammatory Bowel Diseases&Infections;according to Micro,it was 9.36%Fatty Acids,4.55%Gut Microbiota,2.73%Antioxidant Activity.

Conclusion: Animal studies have high citation rates. These studies contribute to the advancement of science. This bibliometric analysis can be helpful for researchers working in the field of Nutrition & Dietetics who conduct animal studies.
