RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE RISK OF PRESSURE INJURIES, PRESENCE OF INJURY AND INITIATION OF SPECIFIC NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Rationale: Pressure injuries (PPI) are a highly prevalent condition in the hospital environment, negatively impacting the patient's experience and outcome, in addition to hospital costs. Numerous evidence reinforces the role of specific nutritional therapy for patients affected by this injury. Evaluate the percentage of patients at risk of LPP who received or not specific nutritional therapy (SNT).

Methods: Retrospective, observational study with data collection from electronic medical records of adult and elderly patients admitted in January 2026 to a private hospital in São Paulo. The risk classification was made using the BRADEN scale applied by nursing and the presence of LPP considering the nursing assessment throughout the patient's journey. The recommendation for supplementation was made considering the prescription in the medical record, as well as the reasons for not introducing it. The groups were divided, with G1 being no risk; G2 mild risk; G3 moderate risk; G4 high risk; G5 very high risk

Results: The sample consisted of 95 patients. The division of groups is available in the table.

Conclusion: We can observe that the risk of injury from BRADEN cannot be exclusively taken into consideration when evaluating a hospitalized patient. It is also necessary to consider the individual assessment of the presence of LPP.  We also observed that the majority of patients with an indication for SNT received it. More research is needed to correlate these data and improve nutritional assistance in this patient profile.
